General Questions
Advance reservations are highly encouraged! Each tour departure time accommodates a limited number of people - up to 10 guests for canopy tours and 25 guests for kids zip. For larger group sizes please give us a call. Much like booking a seat on an airplane, we must know that you are planning to zip with us so that we can schedule guide staff to take you into the trees! Reservations are not always required; however, do know that we do often sell out and can’t always add last minute people.
During your experience at Charleston Adventure Forest Canopy Tour, you will start your adventure zipping from a 65 foot tower to our first tree-top platform. From there, you’ll continue to several more platforms and towers, across 3 sky bridges, and across a grand finale zip of 750 feet. Each tour is led by 2 highly trained and knowledgeable guides.
Each of our activities has specific requirements for age and weight. For kids zip experiences, participants must be at least 5 years old, weigh between 40-180 pounds, and be under 5’6”. Canopy tour guests must be at least 10 years old and weigh between 70-250 pounds. Lastly, our climbing wall has a maximum weight of 300 pounds
Guests are discretely weighed at check-in. If you or someone in your party does not meet our age or weight requirements, our office staff will discretely discuss potential alternatives when available.
Yes, all participants are required to sign a participant agreement before being allowed on course. Our waiver can be reviewed and signed in your booking confirmation email.

We suggest that you dress as if you were going for a hike in the woods. You will be wearing a helmet, full body harness and gloves, so dress for comfort in the weather. Close toed shoes are required--we recommend athletic-type close toed shoes. Do not wear excessively baggy clothing. If you have long hair, you will need to pull it back. We recommend that any jewelry be left at home or in the car.
Kids Zip participants have an hour and a half to run through the course as many times as they wish. Climbing wall participants typically spend around 30 minutes on the wall.
Timing for canopy tours depends on the size of the tour group. A full group of 8-10 guests will take approximately 2 hours. If your group is smaller, with 2-3 guests, the total time may be closer to 1.25-1.5 hours. These time estimates include putting on and taking off the harnesses and ground school; the total time on the course is around 1 hour.
Reservations are considered final 48 hours (2 days) prior to your scheduled tour and are by that time ineligible for a refund or rescheduling. Cancellations and reservation changes prior to that window are eligible for a full refund.

At Charleston Adventure Forest, safety is our first priority. The Charleston Adventure Forest team adheres to the highest industry standards of the Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT), the organization that sets standards for construction and operation of zip line tours. The zip line canopy tour guides go through rigorous 40-50 hour technical training and must pass written and practical skills tests prior to guiding tours. Ongoing training is also required. Outdoor adventure activities all have some inherent risks (which is what makes them so exciting), but we take all industry precautions to minimize the risk so you can have an outstanding adventure experience. YOU play a very important role in ensuring your personal safety! Listening to your guides, following directions, and knowing your personal limits will all help to ensure you have a great Charleston Adventure Forest experience.
Sure! But it isn’t required, so please don’t feel obligated. Your guides work hard to make sure you have a memorable tour. If they do a great job, feel free to reward their hard work.
