How To Get Your Kids Outside This Summer
At Charleston Zipline Adventures we pride ourselves on being family friendly. That’s why we love when your kiddos come and zip with us. Whether they’re here for our Koala Kid Zip or our Zip and Climb Summer Camp, we love the fact that they’re adventuring outdoors. As parents, we know how difficult it can be sometimes to get the kids off of their devices and outside being active. We want you to be able to share the same joy of outdoor fun at the zipline back at home with your kids, which is why we’ve compiled this little list of ways to get your kids outside this summer. So, let’s get them unplugged and outside!
Start small If your children aren’t big into going outside, then the best thing is to start them off small. Begin by finding little reasons to get them outside. Get your kids involved in a special project, find a game that you would like to play together, or just venture outside for a family picnic. This establishes a reason for going outdoors instead of them being told to just go outside without a purpose. They’ll eventually come up with their own ideas, but this is a great way to inspire them. Plus, your little outdoor adventures can become precious family time that will allow you to make many special memories with your kids. If you’re looking for an adventure at CZLA, then we recommend trying our Koala Kid Zip if your children are between the ages of 5 and 13. This hour and a half long experience is just long enough for a fun summer adventure, and you’ll be able to watch them and cheer them on the entire time!
Be prepared So, once you and your family decide on what you’d like to do outdoors the next step is being prepared. Whether you’re going to play at the park, coming to zipline with us, or planning to splash in the waves at the beach, it’s important to have some outdoor necessities. When you come out to Charleston Zipline Adventures, we recommend bringing a reusable water bottle, your little ones’ favorite snacks, bug spray, sunscreen, and possibly a change of clothes for your young adventurers (in case it gets too hot and sweaty for them in their original outfit). That way all you’ll have to worry about once you get here is having fun and making the most of your time together!
Switch it up This summer we have been fortunate enough to zip with campers from Famous Adventures, Nature Adventures, and Mount Pleasant Recreation as well as with our own campers during Zip and Climb Summer Adventure Camp. But the three hours that we spend zipping and climbing with our young adventurers can be a lot to handle in the heat of summer. That’s why we switch it up! We keep our campers engaged in different activities. First, we stretch and play a quick game of tag or I spy. Next, we zip for a while until it’s time for a snack break. Then, we’re on to climbing our 60 feet rock wall. It’s our little way of keeping our campers engaged and enthusiastic about the outdoors. They have so much fun they don’t even realize how hot it is or how long they’ve been outside!
No matter what you do make it into an adventure. Introducing your children to the beauty and joy surrounding nature is sure to leave a lasting effect on them as well as you. Family fun outside with the kids builds memories that last a lifetime. We hope that you’ll allow us to share in this experience, but regardless of where you are... happy adventuring!!
