Charleston Zip Line Adventures all began because of the Canberg’s love for the outdoors. This admiration inspired Andrea and Matthew Canberg to begin their own small business in June of 2016. And now they’re happy to be sharing their passion with adventurers like you! Here’s a little bit of their story...
Andrea is a Mount Pleasant native who has lived in the area for the past fifteen years. She attended the University of Colorado to earn a bachelor's degree in environmental biology where she also guided rafting tours and mountain trips. Yet her engagement didn’t end with her collegiate years. She did it all from taking groups trekking in Nepal, teaching college students about sustainable tourism in Costa Rica, and leading students on a Water Mission in Kenya to working as a whitewater raft guide and backcountry wilderness guide in the mountains of Colorado. Andrea met Matthew while earning her Masters degree in Outdoor Education and the two were happily married in 1999. Together they moved to Clemson where Andrea earned her Ph.D. in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management while Matthew served as a partner in a ropes course building company. But the two couldn’t resist Charleston’s charm. The ocean and their families brought Andrea and Matthew back to Mount Pleasant to start their family.
Andrea and Matthew’s family doubled with the birth of their two amazing children, Marissa and Luke. But Andrea and Matthew’s love and appreciation for nature certainly didn’t end with them. Both Marissa and Luke are outdoor enthusiasts involved in soccer, band, surfing, and adventure, which is exactly why Charleston Zip Line Adventures began. Andrea and Matthew wanted to unplug and spend more time outdoors with their children while also teaching them the importance of commitment and giving back to their community and church.
So together, Andrea and Matthew took the biggest “leap of faith” of their lives. Although it was a large risk and investment for their family, they truly built something special that embodies their love of the outdoors. Now, both tourists and locals can experience Charleston like never before by flying through trees on a zipline. And that’s what exactly why we’re here. We want to guide you through a little adventure that will allow you to unplug and venture into the great outdoors.
